Vision and Ethos
Our Vision
Love of Learning, Love of Life itself, and Love of God
"I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." (John 10:10)
A natural home for all children and adults to have the opportunity to flourish within the community, in a unique and happy school rooted in Christian values.
We are a small rural Voluntary Aided school surrounded by farmer’s fields. Close to us is the town of Buntingford, where many of our families now come from. Buntingford is a growing town and our school is growing too, rising from 51 pupils in 2017 to 128 currently. In September 2021, the school took over the running of an independent preschool on the school site. The school now admits pupils from the age of 2 years old.
Our school held a very successful vision evening to create a Christian vision for our school. We are proud to have developed this with our school community. The school vision is important to us and guides us in the decisions we make for our school and community and helps us to shape development plans for our school.
Vision Evening
“Thank you so much for a fantastic vision evening. It was heart-warming to hear and share why we are all so passionate about the school and come together to create a joint statement we can all relate to.” Parent Governor
To implement this we will provide:
- a happy, positive and safe environment in which every person in our school feels welcome, loved, respected and cared for.
- a strong, Christian ethos with values and principles that are embedded through collective worship and throughout the whole curriculum.
- inspirational and forward-thinking leadership that empowers all stakeholders to be part of a learning culture and committed to the pursuit of excellence and achieving the vision for the school.
- a curriculum that is creative, inspirational, well-planned and well-delivered which will inspire and motivate children to love learning, and
- opportunities and positive role models to listen to pupils, encourage personal growth and develop independence and responsibility.
The impact of this for our pupils will be:
- happy, caring, responsible, independent learners who achieve personal success and feel secure and valued in our Christian environment.
- inspired children who love learning with a desire to learn new skills and experience new things so that they can reach their full potential both academically and as a ‘whole person’.
- independent and confident individuals who show respect both to others and themselves as well as their environment
- children who understand and apply Christian values through learning, worship, prayer, reflection and everyday life and,
- an appreciation of different religious, moral and cultural traditions and see and appreciate the awe and wonder of God's diverse world.
Ethos Statement
Recognising its historic foundation, the school will preserve and develop its religious character in accordance with the principles of the Church of England and in partnership with the Church at parish and diocesan level.
The school aims to service its community by providing education of the highest quality within the context of Christian belief and practice. It will encourage an understanding of the meaning and significance of faith, and promote Christian values through the experience it offers to all its pupils.
