We are delighted that you are considering Hedgehogs Nursery or Hoglets Preschool for your child.

At Hormead, we have a nursery for children aged 3-4 in our brand-new building with its own play area. We also have a Preschool for children aged 2–3 years old in the grounds of our school. All the staff in both settings are fully qualified and experienced early years practitioners. They work closely together under the leadership of the Headteacher, Mrs Lynda Cowler and our Early Years Leader, Mrs Lauren Guilliam, to create a learning pathway that is right for your child. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum to ensure there is excellent provision and progression from the age of 2 years old until the end of the Reception year.

At Hedgehogs and Hoglets, our focus is on learning through play. Each day your child will enjoy a wide variety of activities and experiences, such as cooking, outdoor play, art, music and movement, singing and story-telling and welcoming visitors such as the police and the fire service.  They will also benefit from participating in enriching, collaborative events with the school such as visits to the church, days out and a dedicated forest school time.  

When you join our setting, we hope you will choose Hormead First School for your child’s school place in Reception, but we don’t expect it. We know that parents may have already chosen a pathway for their child. Whatever your decision may be, we are delighted that you have considered us for the start of your child’s educational journey. You will be made to feel part of our Hormead family from the moment you join, and we look forward to welcoming you and providing your child with a happy, memorable time in Hormead.
