Reflection Spaces
Cosy Cabin
At Hormead, pupils are able to use our Cosy Cabin as an outdoor reflective area. The cabin is situated on our playground, and pupils are able to use the space during breaktime and lunchtime, to sit quietly, reflect, read or pray. Our reflective space has Bibles, prayer prompt cards, story books and activity sheets, mindful colouring and different objects to help pupils focus on their thoughts and prayers.
In and around the classroom
Each classroom also has its own reflective area, which pupils can use throughout the day. The library area has a quiet area with bean bags and a selection of religious books and books to help with anxiety, anger and emotions. Children can ask to visit the library for some quiet time whenever they need to pray or just need some time to reflect and be quiet.
In the garden
We have a little garden called the 'Golden Garden'. Our garden is a quiet place for children to go and play or just have some quiet time.
We are in the process of revamping our garden to make it even more of a mindfulness space. The children were given a homework task of designing the space, and we have collected some amazing ideas from them that encompass our vision and values. Some of their ideas include a pond, with a water feature to make them feel calm.
We can't wait for the work to start! Watch this space ...
